Introducing...A New Digital Magazine!

WHAT’S HOT in the DMV with “Your Girl Cheryl”
District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia

WHAT’S HOT is a new digital, bi monthly publication that promotes the patronage and active involvement in the arts and entertainment in the metropolitan area for audiences 40 years of age and over.

“Your Girl Cheryl” (YGC) was an on air personality on WEAA FM reporting on What’s Hot for the Weekend for over four years inviting a 40+ audience to enjoy the fabulous live entertainment available in the metropolitan area. A self-proclaimed enemy of the “big screen TV,” (and the tendency for many to spend so much time in front of it), YGC encourages audiences a vibrancy of spirit amongst older adults achieved by being mentally active and physically involved. YGC says “get up and get yourself around town.”

WHAT’S HOT uses today’s technology in an engaging way. With its turn-able pages on both laptops and mobile phones, live spots linking readers directly to outside video and audio messages, point of purchase abilities, and a variety of other services, WHAT’S HOT will focus on feature articles, reviews, photos and promotion of:

  • live music concerts and performances
  • community and professional theatre
  • dance activities and performances
  • newly released books, CD and movies
  • spoken word presentations
  • recommended restaurants and eateries
  • new and nationally renowned artists
  • traditional and new destination locations and
  • special events and celebrations
  • concert ticket giveaways

in the District of Columbia, Maryland and northern Virginia.

Former editor of the arts and entertainment supplement Friday Plus of the Baltimore Afro American Newspaper, YGC is also a published writer in numerous local and national publications including JazzTimes Magazine, The Crisis (NAACP), Downbeat Magazine, and Dance Magazine. YGC is a concert/festival producer, was a regular panelist on BET’s “BET on Jazz” and has interviewed internationally renowned artists such as Patti LaBelle, Judith Jamison, Misty Copeland, Wynton Marsalis, Regina Belle, Kenny Lattimore, Sweet Honey on the Rock and more.
